The story is based on the diary of a young woman who, along with my grandmother, was deported from Budapest to Germany by the Nazis on November 28, 1944. After spending six months in the Ravensbrück and Penig death camps, she arrived back home at noon on May 27, 1945, and soon began to type out the horrors she had experienced. I found this manuscript decades later among my grandmothers ‘ personal belongings in the family archive. In this documentary film, young people with no direct experience or trauma related to the Holocaust recount the events described in the diary.
